What is Major Placement clearance?
A "Major Placement" is a commercial use of a WavShare sample that goes beyond ordinary release — for example a major-label release, a paid sync placement, an established artist's project, or a placement above WavShare's fee or revenue thresholds. Before releasing, licensing, or delivering a Major Placement, the party doing so must notify WavShare and complete the clearance process so the sample's rights holders are credited and paid correctly.
When to submit
Submit an inquiry as soon as you know a WavShare sample is part of a project that may qualify as a Major Placement — before the release, sync, or license goes final. Our clearance team will follow up to confirm the details and, if needed, start a formal clearance request.
50% WavShare / 50% Creator Pool
If you use this sample in a qualifying major placement, the rights, royalties, advances, license fees, and other revenue allocated to the sample are split 50% to WavShare and 50% to the sample creator/collaborator pool, unless WavShare agrees otherwise in writing.
